We are an Italian company with a very long-lasting tradition and operating for many decades in the production of polyester and polypropylene staple fibres, in all main fields of application.
Our History
1850 Earliest records of “Manifattura F.lli Frana” – founded by the Frana brothers in Val Seriana (Seriana Valley), near Bergamo (Italy)
1920 The family business was mainly focused on the scouring and trading of mattress wool
1955 In the name of Filatura F.lli Frana srl – seated in Gandino (Italy) – the company started teaseling wool blankets that were exported all over the world
1972 Giulio and Mario Frana took control of the business – and they kept on running it until the present days. They set up the first extrusion plant able to transform polypropylene granules into thermo-fixed staple fibres, to be used for bedspread and plaids
1980 The headquarters moved to Casnigo together with the establishment of both Frana S.p.A. – more focused on
blankets manufacturing – and Polifibre S.p.A. that was running the PP staple fibre production and trading. The companies together had complete control of the
manufacturing process as a whole
1984 Technological innovation has always been an asset for our company, and in 1984 the production line
of polypropylene staple fibre was completely renewed
1998 Polifibre S.p.A. introduced a new plant for the production of polyester staple fibre
1999 Merger of Frana S.p.A. with Polifibre S.p.A. by new name Frana Polifibre S.p.A., focusing the whole company on polyester and polypropylene staple fibre production
SINCE THEN… Development in all fields, particularly complying with automotive and hygienic requirements
